The Magistrates project for Waltham Forest Council has been longlisted for the RIBA J McEwen Award that recognises architecture "for the common good".
Judges include Julia Barfield, director of Marks Barfield; Yuli Cadney-Toh, architect director of BDP Bristol; Anisha Jogani, Placemaking team leader of Croydon Council; Kathy MacEwen, town planner; and Hugh Pearman, editor of the RIBA Journal.
The Magistrates is an adaptive re-use of an existing Brutalist building on the Council's Town Hall Campus. The building has been opened up for public access and includes activation of the adjacent outdoor spaces.
