St Catharine's College Cambridge

Gort Scott are redeveloping and reconfiguring key informal and formal social spaces for the College. The project was one of six invited entries in a design competition which included Sergison Bates, BGS Architects, MICA Architects, RH Partnership Architects and Wright and Wright Architects.

Gort Scott were selected as Architects and Lead Designers for this redevelopment from an invited competition in June 2019, in collaboration with Max Fordham, Engineers HRW and Marcus Beale Architects. 

The competition was focused on redeveloping spaces within the College, including the Hall and other dining areas, improving access to the 18th-century Sherlock Library, Senior Combination Room and the award-winning 2013 McGrath Centre. The brief also included providing a new home for the College's Rare Book and Special Collections.
