London Borough of Waltham Forest secured funding from the GLA to transform this 1950s mixed use town centre building. The mixed-use scheme adapts and refurbishes the ground floor of the Listed 'Festival of Britain' style building to provide a bakery, café and events space, retail spaces and coworking areas with meeting rooms and studio units for up to 50 independent creative businesses. The basement also includes rehearsal spaces and recording studios. Externally the facade has been respectfully upgraded to enhance the character of the existing building.

The refurbishment aims to appeal to Walthamstow’s burgeoning creative community as part of a long-term plan by the Council to enhance business in and around the area. The social enterprise Meanwhile Space is running the facility.
