Camberwell Area Plan

A strategic view for Camberwell

Commissioned by the London Borough of Southwark in collaboration with the GLA, Gort Scott was appointed as lead consultant on a collaborative research project, delivering a high-level area framework to guide the future development of Camberwell.

The Camberwell Area Plan aims to maximise the potential of Camberwell as a place to live, work and visit, and incorporates feedback from public consultation events that took place for the project.

The project delivered a vision for Camberwell with concept designs which informed a capital bid to the Mayor’s Good Growth Fund in 2019. The research document will be used long-term to inform discussions about future development, informing design requirements and promoting coherence and legibility between future developments in the area.

Following the Camberwell Area Plan, in 2019 Gort Scott was commissioned to develop a capacity study to provide high-quality residential and commercial provisions alongside Burgess Park.

Guiding principles
