Planning consent granted for 3 Canterbury Road

Gort Scott is working with St John’s College and Savills to convert a mid-19th-century coach house into a two-bedroom home. Located in a North Oxford conservation area, the one-storey red brick building has fallen into disrepair and is currently disused.

Our approach focuses on a sensitive retrofit that preserves the original historic fabric. By upgrading the structure with modern services and climate-resilient measures, the proposal aims to secure a long-term use for the site.

The design makes efficient use of a constrained site, accessed via a narrow lane. The project introduces a green roof and a quiet, gated courtyard. This outdoor space will feature integrated seating and new planting, providing a calm, green setting while supporting local biodiversity.
