Station Road Merton

High quality homes, workspaces and café, framing a new riverside public realm

We are working with Hadley Property Group to comprehensively redevelop 42 Station Road in Colliers Wood, providing high quality new homes, flexible commercial space and a riverside public realm. Sustainability and urban greening have been central to the design process. We are creating a new public space that will become a local destination in its own right and connect to the town centre beyond.

Homes have been designed with high levels of internal daylight and the optimisation of views for residents. Residents will be able to enjoy a shared roof garden and various common spaces for work and play. The development will deliver a total of 116 new homes, of which 44% are affordable.

The project also creates a riverside public space with a new footbridge, to improve links to and from the site and Merton’s town centre. New connections through the Site will also be established. Ground and first floor commercial uses will serve the wider community and local businesses, while providing jobs for the local economy. Biodiversity and opportunities for play are maximised and integrated into the cohesive riverside landscape.

Pedestrian and cycle use will be prioritised in the public realm. The scheme will be car free, except for the provision of blue badge parking located along the southern boundary of the Site. Two electric car-club vehicles will also be located on Station Road, adjacent to the blue badge parking. Residential cycle parking will be located in safe and secure cycle stores within the ground floor of both blocks.

Sustainability has been at the forefront of the design process and this is a net-zero carbon development. The development will incorporate energy efficient, durable fabrics and materials. The domestic portion of the development achieves a 70% reduction in carbon emissions over Building Regulations, and the non-residential portion achieves a 55% reduction, it will be built for life, retain heat well and will be naturally ventilated.
